Wednesday Morning
Well, things are starting to wrap up here. TODAY, I have to ship stuff back to Oklahoma so that it’s there when I get back. It’s amazing how much stuff I’ve amassed. I think I will be buying boxes at the UPS store around the corner.
Yesterday, we had two fascinating speakers in class. The first was a guy who did product dev for Martha Stewart. Yeah, totally amazing. My hand was about to fall off from writing everything down. The next speaker had started her own business during her senior year at Parsons. She was extremely analytical, which I loved, and organized, which I admired. She was wearing Diane VonFurstenburg, too, which made me think her even more darling.
Aliyah and I had lunch at a French sandwich shop not far from the school yesterday. The restaraunts here are sooooo small sometimes–you have to walk through the kitchen space to get to the bathroom! I had a salmon, avacado and cucumber sandwich. We met up after class and went to Tinsel Trading, which wasn’t quite as fab as I had been lead to believe, but still fun. We were going to go to Charlotte Moss, and headed up Fifth Avenue, and ducked into Barney’s to go to the restrooms, and then discovered a shoe sale–75% off(!). When we realized Charlotte Moss had closed (it was after 6:00), we made the most of the sale. Hunger hit, and we headed over to the Modern, the cafe at MoMA.
One thing I’ve learned since living in New York: I can eat raw fish twice a day. Sushi, carpaccio, tuna tar tar–I love it all. I wonder if that’s healthy.
Class continues to be interesting and informative. We are trying to wrap up our group project. The paper is written (FINALLY, as of this morning). We have to work on the presentation for tomorrow. I’m happy to say that on this project, I was the first one to finalize my portions of the project. I wrote my part of the paper last Friday night and did my diagrams on Monday night. It feels SO good to be organized and ahead of schedule! Let’s see if I can apply those principles once I get back to work.
OK, that’s all for now. I’m still going to try to go to Charlotte Moss this afternoon. Oh, and we get to hear Tim Gunn speak today!
