My Favorite Cookbooks

July 14, 2020 whitneyenglish 1 Comment

If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you know I love to cook! I think cookbooks are in a league of their own. The gorgeous photos are really what inspires me to go searching for ingredients I might not have and create something new. And no, my creations generally don’t look as good as the photos inside the cookbook but they do taste delicious!

I have so enjoyed having my own tiny, growing herb garden — that I’m so sad to leave! I’m constantly looking for recipes that allow me to use up fresh herbs this time of year.

I have a few cookbooks I really, really love for summer and if you are needing some inspiration in the meal cooking area of your life, give one of these a try!

First up is IT’S ALL GOOD: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great by Gwenyth Paltrow. I love the simple ingredients she uses and it very often does not require a separate trip to the grocery store. My go-to for summer is the Mexican Goddess Salad. I’ve made it for friends and it is a crowd-pleaser. Grill some chicken for the perfect pairing and a no-heat-added-to-the-house dinner.

My favorite things in The B.T.C. Old-Fashioned Grocery Cookbook: Recipes and Stories from a Southern Revival are the lasagna & marinara recipes! They are so delicious. I feel like everyone needs a great marinara recipe in their back pocket and this does now disappoint!

There are a few recipes that I love from Danielle Walker’s Against All Grain Celebrations: A Year of Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, and Paleo Recipes for Every Occasion. Her Buffalo Cauliflower is so delicious you can’t even stand it. On the sweet side, the Lemon Bars and Carmel Pecan Sticky Buns are just over the top delicious. You would not know by taste that all of her recipes are paleo!

Everyone needs a set of French cooking cookbooks. Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child is the perfect set.

If your kids love cooking (MINE DO!), Cooking Class is a fantastic cookbook for kids. My daughter loves to make their granola bars which I allow her to do whenever she wants because they are THAT delectable!

What are some of your favorite cookbooks? I’d love to know! Share below.
