Free HEART Goals Worksheet
Can you believe we’re days away from the new year and a new decade? I have a good feeling about the 2020s!
I love this time of year. Many of us have goal-setting on the brain and we’re busy dreaming up big audacious goals for our lives! We’ve just spent the last few weeks in a holiday, merry-making mode and now we’re ready to be a bit reflective. We’re looking ahead at what the next year, and the rest of our lives, could be like.
This feels especially prevalent this year as we enter a new decade. The calendar has somehow tricked us into not only setting goals for the coming year but also mapping out the next ten years. It’s a lot of pressure but also a bit magical, right?
Today I wanted to share a tool that has helped me gain perspective while setting goals for the next year and beyond!
If you’ve been around here for a while, you may already know about my personal goal-setting system, HEART Goals. It’s a formula for setting balanced goals, and a system for making decisions, prioritizing tasks, and taking action towards the vision you want for your life.
While launching my new planner this fall, I’ve talked a lot about this personal goal-setting system because the core of this system is built right into the Week on One Page planner. I wanted the two to work seamlessly together, which I wrote about here, because I truly believe they can help you live a more balanced life. (I also wrote at length about what exactly is HEART Goals here.) These systems and tools have given me perspective, focus, and confidence and I know they can do the same for you!
To achieve your goals, you’re going to need an action plan. And to create an action plan, you need to know where you are now, where you want to go in the future, and the important milestones you’ll hit along the way. To that end, I’m giving you FREE access to one of the most important exercises in my HEART Goal course: the 1/5/10. This free HEART Goals exercise could not be more perfect as we enter a new decade.
The worksheet, which you can grab here for free, is a timeline for you to plan for the things that will inevitably happen in the next ten years. This work is pivotal in developing a vision for what you want your life to be like because it uncovers the less dynamic, real-world facts of life. I have three kids, one of which will be 20 by the time we’re talking about the next decade. In the next five years, we’re going to have to start thinking about having the car conversation before he turns 16. That’s the real-life stuff my husband and I need to plan for!
This exercise is less about the idealistic and more about the concrete aspects of your life. It gives you the confidence to note the fixed points on your timeline so it’s a lot easier to weave in the big dreams and audacious goals. It may seem simple, but this exercise is an eye-opener.
This free HEART Goals exercise will broaden your perspective and bring you clarity going into 2020. Get the free HEART Goals Excercise, the 1/5/10 worksheet now and let’s make this new decade the best one yet!
