How to Find Your Perfect Planner
What is the perfect planner for me? It’s an age-old question. Am I a daily or weekly planner person? Should I go with a calendar year or a mid-year planner? What about an academic planner?
First and foremost, different seasons call for different systems. Planning is not one-size-fits-all. What works for someone else, might not work for you. What has worked for you in the past may not work for you now.
We all have such wildly different lives and needs that no single planning system is going to work for all of us at all times. The first step is to identify what you need at this moment. The most important consideration in finding the perfect planner is your needs and preferences.
Don’t adapt your life to fit into a planner. Find a planner that adapts to your life.
A few weeks ago I hosted a planning workshop to discuss this very topic. How do you find the perfect planner and then once you’ve found it, how do you use it more consistently? Check out the video below if you want my best planning tips.
Once you’ve started to identify your own needs and wants, it’s time to research planner formats. We offer three planner formats, all of which I’ve used and loved.
When I’m in a busy season, I always reach for the Day on One Page Planner. When my weeks become uniform and I’m working on longer-term projects, the Week on One Page Planner is my favorite. When teaching my kids how to use a planner, the Academic Agenda has been perfect!
