October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Editor’s Note: This post is brought to you by Johna Jenkins, a nurse practitioner, and the co-founder of our sister brand A Plan for Health. Statistics shared here are from cdc.gov.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the United States. Today, we’re going to talk a bit about something that impacts a staggering number of women and men in the U.S.
Approximately 255,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the U.S. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among American women. Men can get breast cancer too. In fact, 1 in 100 breast cancer diagnoses is a man!
The statistics are astonishing. We likely all know someone affected by a breast cancer diagnosis.
Having a loved one get this news makes us feel helpless. It’s difficult to know how to help. One of the reasons we created A Plan for Health is to provide tangible resources to those dealing with a specific illness or those recently diagnosed. In truth, we hope you’ll never need these resources, but many of us and/or our loved ones will be in that position.
We created a Women’s Health Bundle to honor the month. These resources can be a huge help to someone who receives a breast cancer diagnosis. Gift them tools to keep up with the many doctor’s visits, notes, and questions they may have.
This is also a great reminder to get yourself checked! Grab a buddy and go get your mammograms together! In fact, encourage someone who would otherwise not go on their own — you may save their life.
The Women’s Health Bundle includes tools to track medications and treatments, coordinate doctor’s visits, and more.
- Daily Wellness Tracker
- Healthcare Visits Notebook
- Medications and Supplements Tracker Sticky Notepad
- Weekly Tracker Notepad
- Signature Stripe Pen
