Just after we’ve gotten back in the swing of things after Christmas Break and the brief interruption of MLK Day, along comes the first winter weather event of 2023. These snow days are never the best timing and force us to throw out all the good habits we’ve tried to reinforce since the break. Less screen time, more reading, getting outside to move the body—it all ends up going right out the window. The TV is our go-to distraction to obtain the quiet needed around here to get any semblance of work done.
But, if we are going to binge some TV, we may as well take the opportunity to dig out the approved movie list for the kids. Honestly, it’s mostly a self-serving list because one of us tends to fall on the couch to watch or use it as a distraction while making a meal. Having this list also gives us comfort in knowing what our kids are watching and the added bonus of keeping them away from the Unspeakable YouTube vortex.
So, here you go! On Snow Day #1 we plowed through Hook, Pinocchio (new), The Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Mitchells vs the Machines, and Gulliver’s Travels (the one with Jack Black, so funny). Snow Day #2 has started with the latest National Treasure episode and The Adventures of Tin Tin (great movie) and will end with the kids going outside because the sun is out and the snow is melting!
If you are experiencing a snow day or one is expected, keep this list handy.
