The Savvy Sisterhood: Workshop on the Waterfront 2012
A couple of years ago, I attended a workshop. I had been reading blogs, clicking along, and saw that The Savvy Photographer blog was hosting a workshop for photographers. The Savvy Sisterhood Workshop on the Waterfront, founded by Marsha Mifsud, was designed to be an intimate and collaborative retreat especially for creative photographers and entrepreneurs. While I’m not a photographer, of anything other than my kids, I relate to photographers: they are creative, they are designers, they create beauty. Two of the speakers featured at the last workshop were both women I had admired for a long while: Mika Beth Edwards and Melanie Mauer. Without hesitating, (and I seriously mean, I didn’t think twice), I registered for the workshop, thinking that at the very least, I would learn a lot about my camera.
Friends, I learned so much more. No matter where you are in business, I think having an open mind to learning is key. The photographers who spoke and shared their business insights gave me ideas on things I could implement in my own business. I did learn a few cool things about my camera, but I also found an amazing community of creatives that I could relate to.
Then, a couple of weeks ago, something really exciting happened: Marsha Mifsud contacted me to see if I had time in my schedule to speak at this year’s workshop. I’m happy to say that I am thoroughly delighted (and humbled!) to join the amazing team of 2012 speakers this year at Workshop on the Waterfront! This year’s workshop is October 1-4 in Alys Beach, Florida. You need to be there!
This year’s speakers are beautiful, gorgeous, dynamic women who I cannot wait to spend a few days on the beach with. If you need a reason to attend, start with these five beautiful creatives:

Jamie Schultz is the lead photographer at Jamie Schultz Photography and is the owner of Jamie Schultz Designs, a resource for template designs and business essentials. She is also the creative force behind the incredibly popular blog, This Lunch Rox.
Kelli France is the Editor-in-Chief of Chic Critique. She has run France Photography for over 10 years. Kelli is also the founder of Francypants Academy, a business makeover program for photographers.
Laura Winslow is a modern photographer known for her fresh and colorful approach to photography. Her work has appeared in such publications as BabyTalk magazine, HGTV.com, Celebrate Magazine and Child Style Magazine, among others.
