They Really Do Make Happily Ever Afters
A long time ago, I stumbled across Posie Gets Cozy, the blog of Alicia Paulson, a beautiful heart who lives in Portland with her husband, Andy. Her blog is a carefully cultivated story of a charming life, complete with scrumptious food pictures and gorgeous layers of textiles and textures. She always posts the most precious pictures of her hand-sewn works, and I love reading her updates simply because you can tell that she does everything with such care, and detail, and love. In a world that sucks us into the rush and clamor of busyness and things, Alicia’s blog is a retreat.
I’ve followed her blog almost since the beginning. I felt for her deeply when she told the world about her accident. I sat shocked when she suddenly announced the loss of one of the blog’s most charming characters: her corgi, Audrey. I swooned over the addition of the new little corgi, Clover. Then one day, Posie popped up in my reader with a post titled Well Things Fell Apart. With sweet words that still me cry, Alicia told us the story of a mother’s love. It’s the kind of post that makes you say a prayer as you read it, for all the lives involved. It’s the kind of post that makes you wish you could fix things, and frustrated that you can’t.
Then, months later, in the middle of this past October, my reader told me there was a new post, Then Amelia. The second I saw the title, I hoped it was going to be good news. And it was. It was the best news.
Subsequently, Alicia’s posts have been full of the best kind of pictures: pictures of little life, and pink rosebuds. I’m half envious of her ability to step back and enjoy such tiny moments, and capture them in perfect pictures. I’m so guilty of rushing through each day, and I know there is such little time to savor those moments.
But mostly, I’m just really, really, really beyond thrilled to read that something incredible has finally come to someone as deserving as Alicia. If you have a moment and want to appreciate the good in the world, spend a few moments scrolling through her blog category, Baby Things.
Congratulations, Alicia and Andy!
Warmly,
Whitney
