Weekend Edition • November 13, 2022

Left to right:

1. An Oklahoma seascape, as discovered during field trip this week. According to the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History, this is what the prehistoric Oklahoma underwater landscape looked like. I think it’s rather whimsical, and I’m always after floral inspiration, so maybe these beauties will turn up in a sketch or textile pattern sometime.
2. Progress on our powder bath! We finally have grout. Next, to pick a paper and make sure all plumbing fixtures are on order.
3. I hit an estate sale in this fabulous house with an indoor pool! Forty-two acres and two gorgeous marble fireplaces can be yours for a mere $3.6m. If you need a realtor, call David!
4. I made this short ribs recipe from the New York Times last night to share with our neighbor friends. The NYT recipes never fail me, and while the dish didn’t meet my perfectionist standards, friends declared it delish!
5. Enlisted the help from the whole family to reshuffle and incorporate the latest estate sale finds. Anyone want an exquisite grandmillenial chinoiserie chippendale camel back sofa? It was in our kitchen but now needs a new home. It will find it’s way to my space at the new Mockingbird Manor! (see No. 8 below for more on that!)
6. A new dining table. I’m rotating out a Baker table that we just don’t have room for. This table is perfect for the space, and meets quite of few of my “dream dining table criteria”: octagonal, glass, VERY heavy, garden-esque, per theme of the room.
7. New sectional! Very mcm of me, which is unusual, I know. This house has been begging for something in that vein, though, and I’ve had my eye out for something of this sort. We needed more seats for movie watching and kitchen hangouts. Unlike the dining table, I’m not sure how long we’ll keep this one around, but it’s perfect for the short term, and gives me an idea of how we could fita modular sectional in the space. The low profile on the back is perfect for the space as well, since wI want to keep it really open.
8. The new Mockingbird Manor. WHAT?!? you ask. I know, I said the same thing. After twenty plus years on Western in Oklahoma City, life threw us (David, my parents, the owner and all the dealers) a curveball. We will be moving everything out of our current space after Christmas, as the building has been sold. Our new space will be in the old Wilshire Garden Market, at the corner of Wilshire and May. Updates forthcoming on this (huge) change.
