Pressing Publish
Last week at AH Inspired, roomie Rachel Shingleton and I had several great chats. Rachel and I have overlapping lives: we grew up in the same neck of the woods, we still both live in the same neck of the woods, and we both love our families, our faith, and good ol’ fashioned DESIGN. We relate to each other on quiet a few levels, but probably one of the most important to both of us is that we both value creative expression, in both visual and written form.
One of the conversations we had was about the gift of pressing publish. The ability to express ourselves through our blogs is a huge blessing. Pressing publish doesn’t come without trepidation, however. Literally, every time I blog, I run through a list of people in my head who I am afraid might judge me for it. Last night, David asked me if blogging was liberating. I answered that yes, in a way it was, but that the liberation wasn’t why I kept blogging. The connection is why I keep blogging. The people who read, and respond, and say, “Hey, me too!” That’s the reason I blog. It combats loneliness. The connection trumps the judgement of those that don’t understand.
Ya’ll, I’m SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU. For the people who watched the interview on Smart Creative Women, and responded on Twitter, or Instagram. For those of you who comment on Facebook. For those who comment here. Thank you for being a part of my life. Thank you for the community you are creating.
I’m about to dive into writing my next newsletter: something I haven’t done for a while. If you’d like to sign up for the inside scoop, there is a form on this newsletter page. I’d love to have you join us, if you’re interested!
xoxo,
Whitney
