Three Things I Learned Today
Today was chock full of interesting conversations. Three mastermind calls and an all-too-brief catch up with Jess Lively about the book she’s writing!
Today, three things stood out to me.
- It’s all about the numbers. No, I don’t mean your follower counts or your email list size. I mean your good, ol’ fashioned, P&L, the profit and loss, the income statement. Notoriety does not equal profitability. Pick which one you choose to focus on carefully.
- The best way to overcome writer’s block is to read. Seth Godin’s blog was a lifesaver for me on this tonight. To paraphrase, good writing is risky, because it’s the original, vulnerable stuff at the edges.
- You can get more done if you take the emotion out of it. I’m still working on this, but if you have any tips, I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments.
I find it is easier to take the emotion out of it when I have been “burned”. Once I am angry, I draw the line in the sand and do not stray from it. This results in a lot of learning by trial and error. If I knew an easier way, I would share!
Great advice! Thanks for sharing!
