Joy Thigpen Workshop: Day 1
I’m in Atlanta, at one of Joy Thigpen‘s styling workshops. I met Joy a couple of weeks ago at Bliss & Bokeh, (a retreat for wedding photographers) and sort of fell in love with her brilliance. She’s part of the brains behind the beautiful shoots and photos over at OnceWed.com.
Last night, ten women gathered in the front room of a guest house in Serenbe, Georgia. They told stories of how they stumbled into styling. And almost every one of them expressed it as something that they sort of just fell into. There were a few people who just did florals, and some people who also did planning, but each of their stories and journeys was filled with this amazing concept of chasing beauty.
There are two things I love about the creative mind that has arrived: the underlying theme that beauty is important to the world, that beauty is worth spending time on, that honoring their creative gift glorifies the Giver (thanks to Ellie for that theme), and the subtle conviction that if they add beauty to the world, it not only makes it a better place, but it changes it.
Let’s do more of this, friends. Let’s do more chasing of creativity and more conversations about beauty.
More.
