The Next Big Thing: 2023 Trends
I always have an ear to the ground for the latest trends, and the beginning of the year is a perfect time to do a round-up of my predictions for the next big thing. In 2023 these are the things I think we’ll be seeing a lot of:
- Printed lampshades
- Fancy marble counters
- Stained wood cabinets with white and color accents
- Repurposed chic – they don’t make it like they used to
- A movement from gray to warm taupe
- Jewel box spaces – closets, pantries, odd spaces
- Wallpaper
- Color color everywhere
- Personality and pushing the limits: no more of everything looking the same
- A focus on architectural details and woodwork
- Pops of yellow, especially paired with blues to warm up a space and add energy and delight
- Toile
- Iterative design – wait until you find the right piece
- Chintz – the hallmark of the grandmillenial
- Faux paint techniques
Of course, there are some things here to stay:
- Subway tile
- Brass
- Quality – craftsmanship, workmanship, a job well done
And some things to avoid like the plague:
- Accent walls
- Cheap modern, fast furniture
And be careful with these trends—they may still have some popularity, but I think they are on their way out:
- Curved furniture
Color everywhere & pops of yellow with blue make me happy! 🙂
