Pattern Story: Sointo
Inspiration: the trend of squiggles is everywhere. But I wanted to do a timeless interpretation.
When our team started talking about the pattern we were going to choose for our new-and-improved (now with monthly pages!) undated Day on One Page planner, we knew we were going to have a hard time choosing. Our Antelope pattern on the original Day on One Page has been such a favorite, and we wanted another pattern that would be just as loved! I have quite a collection of patterns I’ve drawn over the years that I haven’t executed (yet), so we started sifting through those archives for inspiration.
When this one came across our screens, there was an audible gasp. We loved it, this was the one, and we were “so into” it, that we decided to name it just that: Sointo. (Even though we made it one word, we still say “so into”, not “soyn-toe”, but if you want to be fancy and start a trend, have at it!)
In a nod to our beloved Antelope, this pattern is a bit zebra-esque, because we believe animal prints are a neutral (if done well, and not overused). In fact, you’d be hard pressed to try to convince me that any room couldn’t do with a small touch of animal print somewhere, but that’s a post for another time.
Sointo is also a pattern reminiscent of water, which makes it delightfully soothing. We tried out a few different colorways before falling in love with this muted pink.
I just love how organic and peaceful this pattern is. The Day on One Page planner is my go-to on busy days, and every time I see this cover, it brings me a moment of zen—especially needed on those jam-packed days!
