Summer Picnic Essentials
It’s summer-time and I am really loving all the extra time with my kids! I am especially loving this time without the burden of “learning from home.” One way we have fun as a family is picnics. I get the kids involved by having them help select the perfect foods and we prepare the basket together.
Because we live in Oklahoma and some could describe it as the surface of the sun during the summer months, we like to do picnics on the later side of the day closer to dinner. You can stay as simple or get as fancy as you like for the picnic — there are really only two essentials that you absolutely need: a blanket and a basket.
Now, let’s talk about beautiful options for your summer picnic essentials! While any blanket and basket will work, here are a few of my favorite options.
Having a sturdy blanket to lay down is essential. I think it’s a worthwhile investment for a blanket that is plastic on the bottom and cotton on top, so if the grass is wet or damp you aren’t getting wet too. I am loving this Waterproof Striped Blanket for form and function! While not waterproof, the Rajasthan Block Print Tablecloth is high on the cute scale!
There are a few different ways to go when you’re thinking about your basket. If any of your items are needing to be refrigerated, especially during the summer months, make sure you grab a cooler bag!
If you don’t need to refrigerate your picnic treats, I suggest grabbing a cute basket to transport your goods. This Wicker Willow Beverage Basket is adorable!
I also love Mark & Graham for picnic blankets and baskets! The Wine Country Basket is perfect for adult picnics and the monogram Waterproof Picnic Blanket is the cutest!
I’m so excited to make a new recipe or a yummy no-bake dessert, and set out for a fun family adventure! Are you planning any picnics with your family? What are your favorite summer picnic essentials?
